How To Clean Granite Countertops?

1. Clean off the counters
First of all, remove everything from the counter. Kitchen appliances, crockeries, keepsakes, and move them to any other table surface. Once the counters are free from large items, take a dry sponge to brush any dust and debris.
2. Scrub the surface and remove stubborn stains
Take a dish soap and warm water to clean the surface while avoiding any scratches through extra rubbing. Make sure to keep granite countertops away from frequent use of vinegar, bleach, or any abrasive pads that can give scratches or dull the shine while cleaning. Some stains might be extremely stubborn on the surface of the granite. For that purpose, use an unsharpened blade to scrape away the gunk. There might also be a requirement of rinsing the sponge and wipe up the remaining suds a few times. And, if you don’t have a razor blade on hand, use the paste of baking soda and water to get rid of the stains by scrubbing the spots through several tries.
3. Disinfect the surface
Create a mixture of 50-50 proportions of isopropyl alcohol and water to spray the entire counter and wait. After five minutes, wipe off the moisture from the counters in back to front motion with a clean kitchen towel to disinfect the granite slab.
4. Add shine and dry out granite countertops
In general, to maintain the long-lasting shine for years to come, the sealant is applied yearly on granite countertops. But to keep the adhesive, you need to follow the above steps once in a while. Also, for a home solution, pour a little cooking oil on a soft cleaning cloth and wipe it across the countertop. This makes the counter a bit stain-resistant while giving it a glossy shine.

As mentioned, most installations of granite are protected by a sealant layer. If you’ve repeatedly tried and failed to remove stains, the chances of ceasing of sealant that functions have been affected.
